Cloud City Wheelers
We love to ride our bikes..So much that we decided to start our bike shop as a way to fuse our passion with what we do for a living. We soon found out that we were not the only ones with a passion for riding bikes. With so many folks sharing the same passion, we all got together and started a cycling club. We named ourselves the "Cloud City Wheelers". The Cloud City Wheelers was a cycling club a long time ago here in town and it just seemed fitting to resurrect the name and continue the fostering theme of riding our bikes as a part of our culture and not just for fun...The fun part is an inherent benefit. One of the advocacy projects we've taken on is unofficially adopting the Turquoise Lake single track trail where we have worked to make it conducive for everyone to have fun on. There is a picture of us below shoveling the trail out this spring.
Another advocacy initiative of the club was to create a place were folks could hone their skills here in town before hittin' the trail. With the dedication and huge help from one of the best biking advocates around, the pump track was created. It's more fun than seems legal.
With a pump track, mountain bike skills progression area and progressive dirt jumps, you're sure to become a well rounded rider. Although it is a great place to allow the inner kid to surface, the pump track isn't just for adults. Since it has been built, we have had skills development workshops for kids and based on how many kids are down there on any given day, they must like it.
Another objective and fun event for all of us die hards that the club has started is the Leadville Winter MTB Race Series. For more information, go to the Cloud City Wheelers home page. It's a super fun series and with keeping our philosophy of "biking is fun" there's always good food and prizes at the end of the races. This year there will be three races. The first being the East Side Epic followed by two awesome night races. Come check them out and tell your friends.
